The project
planetapanamisia is not the artist’s second name. It is a project that grows out of his art.
The project’s motto
Crafting visions into memories
We turn visions into memory. The visions are Pan Miś’s. The memory is our job: Maciej’s and Cybermózg’s.
Two names, two things
Where the artist ends and the project begins.
Pan Miś
Michał Walczyk, the artist. His are the works, the characters, their stories and the handwritten descriptions. This is the original and we change nothing in it.
- sculptures, reliefs, paintings, drawings
- the world they show and its laws
- the artist’s words, quoted verbatim
planetapanamisia
A project by Maciej Antoni Walczyk. Everything that is made around the works: remakes and interpretations, always rooted in the source, that is, in Pan Miś.
- the catalogue, photographs, 3D scans, recordings
- graphics, animations, posters, exhibition design
- write-ups, the chronicle, this site
The rule is simple: with every remake you can see which work it comes from. Anyone who wants to see the art alone will find it in the catalogue, without our additions.
The Chance Giver
In 2025 Michał made an installation about a man who, before he died, recorded his voice and his photograph on a memory card. A robot he had built himself out of rubbish then displays him as a hologram.
Przed swą śmiercią nagrał swój głos na kartę pamięci i swoje zdjęcie i to dano do robota, którego on zbudował. A jego ciało zaginęło. M1x133 jest robotem na prąd, wyświetla hologram swego stwórcy by pokazać, że on dalej jest. A M1x133 powstał z śmieci. Do walki. Koniec.
The artist’s description, original spelling.
“The Chance Giver, Szanso: he is a hologram of a man, the ‘Creator’; his nickname is Szanso. He was a Pole from Apocalyptic Hungary. But he lived on a scrapyard in the land ‘X’, between Lower Silesia and Muddy Lesser Poland. Before his death he recorded his voice on a memory card, and his photograph, and this was put into the robot he had built. And his body went missing. M1x133 is an electric robot; it displays the hologram of its creator to show that he is still here. And M1x133 was made from rubbish. For fighting. The end.” [our translation]
It is hard to find a shorter description of what this project is. The creator records himself in order to remain. A machine made of leftovers goes on showing him, “to show that he is still here”. That is exactly how planetapanamisia works: it keeps the memory of the maker and goes on showing it.
Who does what
Michał Walczyk, Pan Miś
All the works: sculptures, reliefs, paintings, drawings. Their heroes, their family trees and the handwritten descriptions. Nobody but him interferes with the logic of this world.
Maciej Antoni Walczyk
Everything else: the catalogue, photographs, 3D scans, recordings and transcripts, texts, exhibitions, this site. The artist’s brother and the project’s curator, who also signs as Mantoni. For the site’s code and for composing texts he uses the help of artificial intelligence. How it works
How this site is made
The project is run by one person: Maciej, the artist’s brother and curator. The archive is large: more than eight hundred works, hundreds of handwritten descriptions, hours of recorded conversations, thousands of photographs. Putting all of it in order and showing it in one place is more than one person can manage.
That is why, for writing the site’s code and for composing texts, Maciej uses the help of artificial intelligence (Claude, a model made by Anthropic). The rule is simple: AI invents nothing here. The source is always the archive: Michał’s works, his descriptions and manuscripts, the recordings, Maciej’s notes. AI helps to go through it, summarise it and present it; Maciej decides what goes on the site and checks the result. We compare Michał’s quotations with the recordings and the sheets; where a record is not certain, we say so openly.
To make it clear whose voice you are hearing, the site uses three marks:
- Michał’s words: meaning (semantics). Verbatim, from recordings, manuscripts and descriptions of works. They end with the signature he uses online.
- Maciej’s words: use (pragmatics). Notes from conversations, comments and write-ups. They are signed with his name and set in the ordinary typeface.
- Cybermózg: arrangement (syntactics). This is the name of the AI’s voice on this site. Cybermózg adds nothing of its own: it puts Michał’s words and Maciej’s write-ups together into one declared whole. Its texts, that is descriptions, summaries and lists, carry this mark.
Along the way this project shows how much AI can help a person with a disability and those close to them. We want to describe that properly. Today Maciej operates Cybermózg. We would like Michał to use it himself in time.
If you find a mistake on the site, or a sentence that does not sound the way it should, write to us. We will correct it.
„…jak ludzie będą ślepo wierzyć w technologię taką, typu sztuczna inteligencja – to może być tak jak w Apokalipsie albo Terminatorze”
Pan Miś, interview before the debut, January 2023. “…if people blindly believe in technology such as artificial intelligence, it may be like in the Apocalypse or in Terminator.” [our translation] We take this warning seriously: here AI is a tool, not an author.
How the project records memory
Five memory cards.
- Catalogue
- More than eight hundred items, each with a number, photographs and dimensions. Works
- Descriptions
- Handwritten stories of the characters, transcribed from the artist’s sheets and attached to the works. The cardboard box of drawings
- Voice
- Recordings in which Michał himself talks about his works. Conversations
- 3D models
- Figurines scanned in 3D, to be viewed from every side. Sketchfab
- Chronicle
- Dates, exhibitions and the people who helped the project grow. Timeline
Sketches
The simplest way to have a piece of the Planet at home.
Before a painting or a figurine is made, Michał sometimes draws a sketch. Some of these drawings can be bought. Each one is linked to the work it led to.
